Level 2 walks are moderate to challenging and can involve 6 to 8 hour days of walking over technical, steep ground, ie. scrambling over trackless terrain, bagging peaks and maybe moving to the edge of your comfort zone. A good head for heights is required for some of these walks.

These walks combine ridges and peaks. High in the Central Massif we can summit peaks over 2,500m including the highest peak in Cantabria, Peña Vieja at 2,613m, and Pico Tesorero at 2,570m, the meeting point for the three provinces which share the Picos de Europa; Castile-León, Asturias and Cantabria.

 In summer, during high-pressure weather, there's often an inversion of clouds hanging first thing in the valley that can, to the unintitiated, appear to be a bad day for venturing into the mountains. Your guide, however, has other plans, leading you into the higher atmosphere of the secret blue above.

 There will be times when you will need to use your hands and scramble to reach the summit where the views of the sea in the distance make the effort worthwhile.

 Alpine plants provide colour relief from the dazzling grey limestone while mixed flocks of Alpine and Common choughs frolic in the air around you.

 The highest mountain in the Cantabrian range, apart from the Picos de Europa, is also accessible - Peña Prieta rises to 2,539m.

 Level 2 walks are centred around the Central and Eastern massifs of the Picos de Europa, the valleys of Liébana and the Cantabrian mountains.

As with Level 1 walks, the price of €650 pp. includes;
